As Managing Editor I drove the blog content for new, independent source for digital audiobooks, Libro.FM.
Libro.FM’s brand is all about independent bookselling. Their blog provided support for their digital store, including curation of the best books and the stories behind them.
As their Managing Editor, I conducted interviews with authors, audiobook narrators, and independent bookstore owners in order to advance Libro.FM’s online persona.
Examples:
I needed to show our love and knowledge of books in order to establish ourselves and independent and not just another audiobook website. But there are hundreds, if not thousands, of book blogs out there, and we weren’t able to offer the user reviews that or major competitor does. As a startup, Libro.FM also couldn’t compete with their competitor’s resources or marketing budget.
As Managing Editor, I conducted interviews with authors, audiobook narrators, and independent bookstore owners. This differentiated us from personal book blogs, while still providing engaging and cost-effective content.
I read or listened to the authors’ book, and often focused our conversation on audiobooks, in order to appeal to audiobook enthusiasts. In the case of independent bookstores, I steered the conversation towards favorite books or books on their radar.
The author and their publishers would then share this content on social media, driving traffic to our website.
The conversations with independent bookstore owners endeared us to that particular community. Libro.FM’s goal was to sell digital audiobooks through independent bookstores, and they’ve begun piloting their program with some of the bookstores I originally interviewed.
